Kenneth L. Friesen

A memorial service will be held Feb. 11 for Kenneth L. Friesen of Eugene, who died Feb. 4 of amyloidosis.

He was 64.

He was born Oct. 26, 1941, in Dallas, Ore., to Harry and Ruth Van Laanen Friesen.

He married Jane Topp on July 13, 1963, in Eugene.

Friesen attended the Orchard School in Dallas, Neskowin School, Lyle School in Dallas, Cottage Grove Junior High School, Dallas High School and South Eugene High School. He graduated from South Eugene in 1959.

He received his bachelor of arts degree in English literature from the University of Oregon in 1963. He graduated from Western Evangelical Seminary in 1971 with a masters of divinity degree.

He was pastor of the Evangelical Church of North America in Swisshome, Moline, Ill., Adna, Wash., and Eugene.

He was a professor of biblical studies and theology at Wesley Bible College in Minneapolis, and Vennard College in University Park, Iowa.

Frieson enjoyed fishing, reading, woodworking and gardening.

His family remembers him as "a man of faith." He was a member of the Wesleyan Theological Society and was the current president of Wesley International Inc., a missionary agency.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Victor and Matthew, both of Eugene; a daughter, Pamela Wilson of Greenville, Ill.; his parents, now of Salem; two brothers, James of Lincoln City and Philip of Salem; and five grandchildren.
